September
Sat, 16th - Brands Hatch

It's the BMCRC Club Bike Championships this weekend at brands hatch, and Never Grew Up were asked to play on Saturday night

This is the Kentagon, strange looking venue, high ceilings, wierd set up and we were given a stage sooo small we could just about fit gary and all his drum mics on there!!

When we all finally met up in the camping area, was time to put up the band suites, errr...tents to be exact!! Everyone had fancy pants tents, except ian, who looked like he'd had a fight in it?! And then I turn up with my £9.99 tesco tent and everyone's jelous!! hehe

The Track...

We watched a bit of the racing which was great, some impressive sounding engines to say the least!Shame I don't know too much about bikes! doh. The picture below is Bob's son, Rob Hollingsbe racing in the superbike 600 class (bob, is that right?). Rob was the one on the blue bike 'aving it on the corner!

The Food....
As with any lengthy time spent near gary, food is always on the agenda, and the master chef went to work. He brought his own BBQ with him and plenty of food!!:-)

As you can see, the food cooking was going well, and gary looked like he was enjoying himself playing with fire!

Think the BBQ finally started to beat him!

Setting up......

I have to point out here, we do know how to set the band equipment up, as we do it every single time - and the bigger the gig, we'll mic up the drum kit and bring every sort of speaker and amp we can, just to make a shed loada noise! However, looking at the photo's, we spent more of our time standing and staring at the equipment rather than setting it up!! lol

The Gig........

Time for a quick drink, congratulate eachother on a wonderful rig we'd set up before going for it on stage!

Off we go - not quite sure why none of us are looking particularly happy, but hey ho, we must have been concentrating!! The sound was excellent in the end, nice loud PA system, mic'd up kick drums and bass, tommy's and snares, guitars and me making noise on the mic, fantastic stuff!

Finally got a picture of bob - woooooo!

Gary 'avin' it on drums - lots of noise with the bass bins thumping up his sound!

Ian strumming and making noise on his geee-tah......

Roy was wailing on his guitar like a goodun, great stuff

Erm, roy, you look like your about to go kill someone here!

Ian performing some of the songs he sings..

Me, making some noise on the microphone!

We asked our mate Tracey to perform a couple of tracks and he did great - he knows how to work a crowd!

The lovely Backing lady's...

For one of our last tracks, a few of us decided to have a shot at 'mustang sally'. This is Geoff, one of the previous singers of Never Grew Up

Some random girl wanted to sing and boy did she have a voice on her!!!

All of us putting our mark on the song!

The place was rammed with people, was a wonderful turn out

All in all a great experience and opportunity for us to play at Brands Hatch. We should be back at some point to. A great evening spent by all, and to everyone's amazement, I didn't even get too drunk!!
