Thurs, 23rd - The Anchor Hotel, Burnham-on-Crouch

The mysteries of the anchor are no longer a mystery to the masses who never turn up.....We have a couple of piccie's from this do - hurrah.....
Expectations were less leading up to the gig, where was my nervous stomach? Why didn't I feel like being sick? Where were the shaky hands? Replaced with a calm sense of being, and ready for whatever anyone threw at us. (not literally I'd like to add!)
We had a bit of a disagreement with some old man with a big beard, but bless him, couldn't work out if he was smiling or grimacing, the beard was just so big! He rattled me a little but I managed to bite my tongue and not get annoyed about it, which was good if you ask me...'I pay your wages', he claimed....hahahaha a threat which hardly holds any clout when your paid so badly as a public performer. Anyhoo, I'm waffling....rant over.
We got started around 9pm, and started off pretty well. We all had a smoothness I had not noticed before, it might have been just me who was more relaxed, but something felt much nicer. We racked through the first set no worries - I fear we did a few songs a little too fast, but psh, blame the drummer hehehe. I think nerves took a small part, but saying that, I liked the faster pace of some of them!
The crowd was slowly growing during the evening, and majority stayed which was a bonus....in the break and whilst I was playing, it was like a blast from the past with old faces I once knew popping up, but nice to catch up with them.
Second set, I lost my place a couple of times, mind wandering, I must stop that, but managed to recover I think without too much trouble. We got some good crowd responce and also the usual custom like fashion of shouting 'more, more' at the end of the set, which isn't really the end, cause we say it's the end but it's really a couple away so we have an encore.....ha, english traditions....might refuse to encore next time, will leave the public making seal like noises, that'll make me chuckle.
A good gig, looks like could be the last for 2006, I hope not, but you'll have to watch this space, we might pull a couple more out our sleeves, but depends how festive we're feeling!!!
